Objects and Reasons
The purpose of this Bill is principally to amend the provisions of the Public Transport Authority Act, 1989 to bring self-drive cars and the hiring thereof under the jurisdiction of the Public Transport Authority. The Bill also provides for greater penalties that may be awarded under regulations made under the Act, and also removes certain disqualifications for membership of the Executive and Advisory Committees of the Authority.
