The Object of the Bill is to give legal effect to the existing state of fact whereby the Monte di Pieta' is virtually though not strictly legally, a department of Government, and at the same time ensure the continuance of the functions hitherto performed by that institution. it is also proposed to keep the name by which that institution is popularly known.
