Objects and Reasons
The Objects and Reasons of this Bill are to transpose Directive (EU) 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2019 on the protection of persons who report breaches of Union law. The transposition is being made through amendment of the
Protection of the Whistleblower Act (Cap. 527). In this Bill, reporting persons shall not be able to disclose anonymously, an option that the Directive allows to the Member State.
