Grievance
We, the undersigned, express our deep concern and opposition to the proposed construction of an incinerator in Maghtab, Malta, by the Maltese government and Wasteserv. This decision poses a significant threat to the health and well-being of the Maltese population and the environment.

*Reasons for Opposition:*

1. Health Risks: The prevailing Northwesterly wind pattern in Malta will expose the majority of the population to poisonous and carcinogenic fumes, putting citizens, especially children, at risk of respiratory diseases and potential cancers. Delimara power station was built there to ensure fumes are blown over the sea.

2. Broken Promises: The construction of an incinerator in Maghtab contradicts the government's previous promise to close the waste landfill in Maghtab. Instead of addressing the waste issue as promised, it is causing more problems for the local community by increasing the activity in this site.

3. Traffic Congestion: The diversion of more garbage and waste to Maghtab will lead to increased traffic and bottlenecks in the area and around, negatively impacting the quality of life for residents.

Wherefore I/we respectfully request the House of Representatives to
- The Maltese government Wasteserv and Parliament to reconsider the construction of the incinerator in Maghtab.
- The government to uphold its commitment to closing the waste landfill in Maghtab and explore sustainable waste management solutions.
- A thorough environmental impact assessment to be conducted, considering the health and environmental risks associated with the incinerator.

Closing remarks
By signing this petition, we stand united in our quest to protect the health, safety, and environment of our beloved Malta. Together, we can work towards a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future.
