Objects and Reasons

The objects and reasons this Bill are to transpose into national law Directive (EU) 2024/1226 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 April 2024 on the definition of criminal offences and penalties for the violation of Union restrictive measures and amending Directive (EU) 2018/1673 and to implement the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2024/886 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 March 2024 amending Regulations (EU) No 260/2012 and (EU) 2021/1230 and Directives 98/26/EC and (EU) 2015/2366 as regards instant credit transfers in euro and of Regulation (EU) 2023/1113 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 May 2023 on information accompanying transfers of funds and certain cryptoassets and amending Directive (EU) 2015/849. This Bill also updates the national framework governing restrictive measures to ensure consistency with current European Union law and international obligations.
