The objects and reasons of this Bill are to amend the Competition Act (Cap. 379) and the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority Act (Cap. 510) in order to transpose and implement the relevant provisions of Directive (EU) 2019/1 of the European Parliament and of the Council to empower the competition authorities of the Member States to be more effective enforcers and to ensure the proper functioning of the internal market and also to provide for such matters ancillary or incidental thereto or connected therewith.
