The objects and reasons of this Bill are to provide for additional funds to finance the Budget 2021 measures and to make good for further corresponding government revenue shortfalls arising. The need to provide additional funds is largely a result of keeping in place beyond the period originally contemplated in the 2021 Budget, several unprecedented fiscal policy support measures which had been introduced in 2020 to mitigate the negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the economy.
