​Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil Antonio de Aguiar Patriota paid a courtesy visit to Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia.

 

Speaker Farrugia and Ambassador Patriota confirmed the cordial relations between Malta and Brazil which were established almost 42 years ago on 23 June 1975. They also referred to the sterling work carried out by Maltese missionaries serving in Brazil.

 

The two dignitaries discussed issues of mutual interest such as the enhancement of cooperation in the maritime sector and climate change, as well as the cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

 

The III EU-CELAC Summit, which will be held in El Salvador this October, and the EU-MERCOSUR negotiations for the successful conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement were also discussed.
