PR171206 - The Speaker pays courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Croatia – 09.05.2017

Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia paid a courtesy call on President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović at San Anton Palace, Ħ’Attard.

Speaker Farrugia and President Grabar-Kitarović  highlighted the excellent relations that exist between Malta and the Republic of Croatia, and underlined the various exchanges of high-level visits which have further enhanced these relations.

The two dignitaries discussed issues of mutual interest, such as the outcome of the French Presidential election, European values, rule of law, migration, and the protection of minorities.

The importance of the role of national Parliaments and parliamentary cooperation in international organisations such as the PA UfM featured in the talks. Reference was also made to the Parliamentary Friendship Group that exists between the Parliaments of Malta and Croatia.

President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović was accompanied by Chief of Staff, Office of the President AnaMarija Kirinić, Ambassador of Croatia to Malta Damir Grubiša, Adviser to the President for Foreign and European Policy Dario Mihelin, Adviser for Social Affairs and Youth Renata Margaretić Urlić, State Secretary for European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia Marija Pejčinović Burić,  Spokesperson of the Office of the President Luka Đurić,  and Head, Temporary Office of the Republic of Croatia to Malta Ivana Zerec.

Clerk of the House Ray Scicluna, Personal Assistant to the Speaker Ancel Farrugia Migneco, Director International Relations, HoR Eleanor Scerri, Director, HoR Peter Paul Mallia, and Adviser International Relations, HoR Giovanni Miceli accompanied Mr Speaker to the meeting.
