Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia received a Swedish Parliamentary delegation led by the Vice-Chair of the Swedish Committee on EU Affairs and Deputy Member of the Committee on Environment and Agriculture, Mr Eskil Erlandsson.
Dr Farrugia recalled the cordial relations (established in 1969) that exist between Malta and Sweden, which have been strengthened by fruitful exchanges, the latest being the visit to Stockholm by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat on 28th February 2017.
The Speaker referred to the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which Malta is currently chairing, that includes the various inter-parliamentary conferences being organised by the House of Representatives under the Parliamentary Dimension of the said Presidency.
The two sides discussed various issues of mutual interest, particularly migration and Brexit.
Apart from Mr Eskil Erlandsson, the Swedish Parliamentary Delegation consisted of eight other Members of Parliament from various political parties and was accompanied by Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Malta, Mrs Cecilia Björner, and Minister Counsellor at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Mr Fredrik Schiller.
