The object of this Bill is to introduce the Police Code in substitution of the Malta Police Ordinance, in line with the modernisation of the Police Force, especially in view of the case law established by the European Court of Human Rights and other organs. It also establishes the office of the Enquiring Magistrate working in constant contact with the Police. Amendments to the Criminal Code and the repeal the Security Services Act become necessary.
