Objects and Reasons
The objects and reasons of this Bill are to amend various provisions in the Companies Act (Cap. 386) in order to enhance practicality and legislative alignment with existing European Union legislation, implement the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2022/2560 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 December 2022 on foreign subsidies distorting the internal market, and introduce modern preventive restructuring and insolvency systems. Additionally, this Bill introduces new criteria requiring every Maltese company to maintain a clear nexus with the jurisdiction.
