Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia received United States Ambassador to Malta Glenna Kathleen Hill on a courtesy call.

Speaker Farrugia and Ambassador Hill highlighted the strong and friendly bilateral relations between the two countries as well as the role of the Maltese Diaspora in the United States.

The two dignitaries discussed topics of mutual interest, including cooperation at Parliamentary level and the international situation, particularly the situation in the Mediterranean.

Speaker Farrugia mentioned the importance of a closer relationship between the Maltese Parliament and the US Congress in order to enhance a better approach between the EU and the US with regard to the world’s main concerns of security and terrorism.

The various Inter-Parliamentary meetings being organised under the Parliamentary dimension of Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union also featured in the talks.
